今週はDeepMindが発表した人間と同等レベルでプログラミングするAIを開発したとの発表に注目しています。人間と同等と書きましたが、プログラミングコンテストの中位に位置する結果で、コンテストには腕自慢の開発者が参加していますから、実質的には通常の開発者よりも能力が高いレベルと思います。プログラミングはいつまでも手作りでバグが絶えないというのが常識でしたが、AIによるプログラミングが始まると、生産性が劇的に代わり、ソフトウェアが我々の性能・進化が更に加速することが期待されます。まさに破壊的テクノロジーです。

This week I've been paying attention to DeepMind's announcement that they have developed an AI that programs at the same level as humans. I wrote that it is on par with humans, but the result is in the middle of programming contests, and since the contests are attended by developers who are proud of their skills, I think the level of capability is practically higher than that of regular developers. Programming has always been hand-made and buggy, but with the start of AI programming, productivity will dramatically replace it, and software is expected to further accelerate our performance and evolution. It is truly a disruptive technology.
