winyy Issue #77

Facebookが社名を、MetaverseからとったMetaに変え、各社が参入を発表するなど、にわかにMetaverseに注目が集まっています。Metaverseは、90年代のSF作品の中で描かれた仮想空間サービスの名前から取られた、3D仮想空間の意味です。「あつ森」もその一つと言っていいでしょう。以前からマインクラフトなどがありましたが、仮想空間の中でコミュニケーションや仕事をして、生活の一部を仮想空間で行うという形で進化してきています。テクノロジーの進化のみならず、Work from Homeでユーザーの感覚も変わってきたことによって受け入れられてきたと言えるでしょう。今後どのように進化していくのか、よく見ていきたいと思います。

Metaverse is the name of a 3D virtual space, taken from the name of a virtual space service depicted in a 90's science fiction work. Animal Crossing is one such service. There have been Minecraft and other services for a long time, but it has evolved into a form of communication and work in a virtual space, where part of our lives are conducted in a virtual space. It can be said that this has been accepted not only because of the evolution of technology, but also because the sense of users has changed with Work from Home. I will be watching closely to see how it evolves in the future.
