先週はGMのIR説明会が耳目を集めました。自動車会社から「プラットフォーム企業」への脱皮を図る戦略で、自動運転車を2030年までにに100万台、サブスクリプションサービスの売上を2030年までに250億ドル規模にする、EV充電器インフラに2025年までに7.5億ドルを投資する、などかなり野心的な目標を提示しました。MaaSにより自動車会社の役割が変わると言われて5年くらい経ちますが、技術やビジネスモデルが形になってきており、コンセプトから具体的な計画に落とし込まれてきた感があります。

The U.S. had a three-day Columbus Day holiday, so the delivery of this newsletter was delayed.

Last week, GM's IR briefing attracted a lot of attention. GM's strategy is to transform itself from a car company to a "platform company". The company presented quite ambitious goals, including 1 million self-driving cars by 2030, $25 billion in subscription service sales by 2030, and $750 million in EV charging infrastructure by 2025. It's been about five years since we were told that MaaS would change the role of car companies, but the technology and the business model are taking shape, and it seems that the concept has been incorporated into a concrete plan.
