今日は9.11から20年目です。こちらのTVでは"Remeberring 9.11"など追悼番組や、この20年で米国社会がどう変わったか、などの関連場組が沢山放映されています。

今週FacebookがRey Banと提携したスマートグラスを発表しました。プライバシー問題も指摘されており、メディアの反応は別れていますが、新しい商品カテゴリーを出そうとするシリコンバレーらしいチャレンジだと思います。近いうちに試してみたいと思います。

今週バイデン大統領が職場でのワクチン義務化の大統領令に署名し、「これは自由や個人の選択ではない。私の仕事は大統領としてすべてのアメリカ人を守ることだ」と強い調子で演説がありました。自由の国であってもここまでやるんだという驚きがありました。

Today is the 20th anniversary of 9.11. There are a lot of memorial programs on TV here, such as "Remembering 9/11", and related programs about how American society has changed in the past 20 years.

This week, Facebook announced its smart glasses in partnership with Rey Ban. The media reaction has been mixed, with some pointing out privacy issues, but I think it's a typical Silicon Valley challenge to come up with a new product category. I'd like to try it out soon.

President Biden signed an executive order mandating vaccines in the workplace and said, "This is not about freedom or personal choice. It’s about protecting yourself and those around you — the people you work with, the people you care about, the people you love. My job as President is to protect all Americans." as a powerful speech. I was slightly surprised that even a free country would go this far.

The most read news last week was "These countries rank highest for digital competitiveness."
